This ministry is committed to reaching out to the less privileged in our community by providing them with resources that will restore their hope and empower them. Their events include the following outreach activities:
Food & Assistance for Homeless Shelters This is an ongoing outreach to people living in homeless shelters. Each week a catered meal is provided to people located in Carroll House shelter (a men’s shelter located in Silver Spring, MD) and other homeless people who frequently visit Franklin Park in Washington, DC. We also assist Green Tree shelter (which is a transitional home for homeless families, primarily single mothers) with ‘Spring Cleaning’ and provide other needs such as personal care effects for the women and Arts Supplies for the children, for their art projects.
Back to School Jam This is an annual event where we provide food, fun and back-to-school back-packs filled with needed school supplies to under-privileged children in our community.
Thanksgiving Lunch & Concert This is an annual event organized for the homeless people in our immediate and surrounding communities. A prepared and pre-packed Thanksgiving meal is provided to all who attend, accompanied with concert entertainment.
Winter Coat Drive This is an annual drive that provides winter clothing for the homeless people in our immediate and surrounding communities just before the cold winter season.
Christmas Shoe Box Drive The shoe box drive is also an annual outreach to the less privileged in our immediate and surrounding communities. This event takes place just before the Christmas season where shoe boxes containing personal care products are packed into individual shoe boxes and distributed.
